Historic culture at Warsaw's Wilanow Palace

12th December 2006

Warsaw's Wilanow Palace is one of the few important buildings in the city to remain untouched during World War II, and offers an authentic insight into centuries-old Polish culture.

The Palace grounds take up over 45 hectares of land, with water features and elaborate landscape designs making the park a popular destination to relax in.

The park holds a number of specialised garden areas. The Baroque Garden is made up of colourful flowers set in formal patterns, the English-Chinese Garden offers a relaxing detour through 200-year-old forests and the Rose Garden hosts classical music concerts in the summer.

The Wilanow Palace itself contains several galleries. Portraits of past Polish monarchs line the gallery walls, and collections also contain work by masters such as Rubens and Casteels.

A poster museum in the former riding school displays collections of the graphic artwork that the country is famous for, but the most significant feature of the Wilanow is its Palace Museum. Exhibits of European and Oriental art as well as guides to previous centuries' kings and cultures are just some of the attractions on offer within the museum.

Providing genuine insight into Poland's history, culture and horticulture, the Wilanow Palace is an ideal destination for visitors looking to unwind while in Warsaw.
