Milan is the capital of Lombardia in the north of Italy, it’s also Italy’s second largest city and a world centre of culture, business and fashion. Famous for its cuisine and with plenty of fabulous restaurants Milan is the perfect destinations for all lovers of good food.

What to do and see in and around Milan

Santa Maria delle Grazie
Santa Maria delle Grazie is a beautiful Renaissance church but most people come here to view Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper. The world famous fresco attracts hordes of people so make sure you book tickets in advance!

Duomo
On Piazza Duomo in the heart of Milan stands the spectacular Duomo cathedral. A breathtaking piece of Gothic architecture, it took over 500 years to complete the construction of the cathedral.

La Scala
Milan’s world famous opera house La Scala is just a short walk from the Duomo. The building itself dates from 1776-78 and was reopened in December 2004 after a 2 year long refurbishment. Mayor opera stars like Maria Callas and Luciano Pavarotti performed here before their rise to stardom.

Pinacoteca di Brera
Pinacoteca di Brera is a 17th century palazzo hosting Milan’s finest art collection. The museum feature many masterpiece paintings by great artists like Raphael, Caravaggio and Tintoretto. Open Tuesday to Sunday 8am – 7.30pm.

Pinacoteca Ambrosiana
The Pinacoteca Ambrosiana houses one of Milan’s best art galleries, artists displayed include Raphael, Caravaggio and Botticelli. The adjoining library is normally only open to scholars but houses the original version of the Divine Comedy and Leonardo Da Vinci’s sketch books, Codex Atlanticus.

Castello Sforzesco
The historical Sforza castle was built by the Sforza and Visconti families. Today it’s a place of culture with several small museums, including Pinacoteca, Museo d’Arte Antica and the Archaeological Museum.

Museo Poldi-Pezzoli
The Poldi-Pezzoli museum is a private museum situated in north-east Milan. The building is a beautiful palazzo and both the exterior and interior are very well preserved. The fine collection includes, sculptures, textiles glass and paintings.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele is a beautiful glass shopping arcade. The elegant galleria offers an amazing space for your shopping or to just relax with a coffee while watching Milanese life pass by.

Quadrilatero d’Oro
The Golden Quadrilateral is the heart of Fashion-Milan and consists of four adjoining streets just north of the Duomo. These four streets are lined with designer shops and boutique, it’s heaven for the shopping hungry.

Giardini Pubblici
The Public Gardens in Milan is the largest park in Milan and a great place to get away from the busy city life. The park includes a zoo, a planetarium, several small lakes and Italy’s largest natural history museum.

Meazza Stadium (San Siro)
The Meazza stadium also known as the “San Siro” is Italy’s number one stadium. The stadium is the home of Milan’s two main football teams; Milan and Inter and have an impressive capacity of 85 000 people.

Lake Como
40 minutes by train
The scenic Lake Como is Italy’s third largest lake. The area around the lake offers visitors tranquillity and fantastic views of snow-white alpine tops. There are plenty of interesting sights and museums to visit, like the original basilica in the town of Como with its stunning dome.
