This charming city has loads to offer travellers looking for a laid back break from everyday life. Take a stroll along the winding streets in the old town or relax by the lake.

What to do and see in and around Zurich

Grossmünster
The Grossmünster cathedral, located on the right bank of the Limmat River is one of Zurich’s most famous landmarks. According to legend the church was founded by Charlemagne after he discovered the graves of Zurich’s martyrs Felix and Regula. The cathedral’s characteristic twin towers offer a panoramic view of Zurich.

Fraumünster church
The Fraumünster church is located close to the Münsterhof Market in the old part of Zurich. This late-Gothic church is celebrated for its blue spire, large stained glass windows and elaborate organ, and is well worth a visit.

Bahnhofstrasse
Bahnhofstrasse is a shopper’s paradise and probably one of the most beautiful shopping streets in the world. Shops range from top of the range designer stores to high street shops.

Niederdorf
The vibrant Niderdorf district is a part of the Old Town and is filled with lively bars, cosy restaurants and trendy boutiques. Wander through the narrow streets or sit in one of the areas many street cafés and watch people pass by.

Kunsthaus Zürich
The Kunsthaus Zürich is considered by many to be the best art gallery in Switzerland. Amongst artists featured are Chagall, Van Gogh, Rodin and Monet. The museum's remarkable Munch collection is a highlight.

Landesmuseum
The Swiss National Museum has an interesting collection of objects portraying the history of Switzerland. From the pre-historic times to special exhibitions dealing with today’s Swiss society.

Botanical Garden
The University of Zürich Botanical Garden is a haven for nature-lovers and offer a vide range of exotic plants and impressive trees. The Greenhouse is open daily from 9.30am-4pm.

Zürich Zoo
Zürich Zoo is popular with both adults and children. The Zoo houses some rare species including clouded leopards, Siamese crocodiles and spotted gars. The animals are kept in enclosures designed to be like their natural habitats as much as possible.
