Heidelberg

Nestled in a steep valley on the River Neckar, Heidelberg is a picture postcard city which almost entirely avoided the bombing that claimed other urban centers during the Second World War. The city is famous for its beautiful old castle which dominates the skyline and overlooks the pretty Baroque Old Town. Walk along the Philosphenweg (or Philosopher’s Walk), offering great views of the city from across the river or discover some of Heidelberg’s historic churches. Don’t miss a trip on the Heidelberger Bergbahn Funicular to the Königstuhl for spectacular views over the city.
