Stuttgart’s royal past is still evident today. The capital of Baden-Württenburg in southern Germany was, at one time, the residence of Württenburg aristocracy, who have left their mark with a number of ancient castles and stately palaces in the city. Visit the Castle of Solitude and the Baroque Ludwigsburg Palace on a stroll starting in the beautiful Schillerplatz. Today, the city is also proud of its significance in the auto-industry. Tour the Mercedes-Benz or Porsche Museums, or spend a lazy afternoon wandering through Wilhelma Botanical Gardens. In the winter, Stuttgart hosts a marvellous Christmas Market.
