Nimes

Nimes is a lovely Provençal city with a long history dating back to the Roman Empire. Roman remains here include France's largest and best preserved amphitheater, the Maison Carrée, and the Pont du Gard, a magnificent aqueduct displaying three tiers of arches that span the river from a height of 160 feet. Unearth international gems at the art gallery, the Musée des Beaux Arts de Nimes, and stroll through the Jardins de la Fontaine, an 18th century formal garden set around the ruins of Roman Thermal baths.
