Augsburg

Just 50km from Munich this Bavarian city located on the Romantic Road route Augsuburg is one of Germany’s oldest cities. This ancient and famous city was once home to two great medieval merchant dynasties of the Fuggers and the Welsers, and the Altstadt (old town) rich with fine medieval guild houses, 11th-century churches, and Renaissance Halls. The city is also home to the Fuggerei, a walled enclave and the worlds first housing complex dating from the 16th-century which is amazingly still in use today.
