Tarragona

Capital of the Tarragona Province, this ancient city dates back to Roman times and its ruins are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The large Cyclopean walls are thought to be the palace of Augustus, just one of the remaining Roman structures in Tarragona. The city has many fascinating convents such as Santa Teresa, San Francisco and the convent of the Dominicans. Take a walk along La Rambla Nova for boutique shopping, flower markets and restaurants serving traditional Catalonian cuisine.
