Trip Overview

This tour starts with a night in Milan. Then discover the best Italian lakes starting with Lake Como which attracts its share of celebrities and tourists, its shores are lined with grand neo-classical villas backed by impressive gardens, Next Lake Garda Italy’s largest lake known for its crystal-clear water. You will stay at the south end, in the town of Sirmione known for its thermal baths and Rocca Scaligera, a medieval castle overlooking the lake. Next two nights in Venice the capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region, built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. Your tour then concludes with a journey on the Venice Simplon Orient Express which will transport you back in time, the train epitomizes the glamour and elegance of the Golden Age of travel

Daily Itinerary

DAY 1 – MILAN
Your tour starts with a flight from the UK to Milan. Upon arrival check into your hotel then explore this metropolis in Italy's northern Lombardy region, a global capital of fashion and design. Home to the national stock exchange, it’s a financial hub also known for its high-end restaurants and shops. Visit the Gothic Duomo di Milano cathedral and the Santa Maria delle Grazie convent, housing Leonardo da Vinci’s mural “The Last Supper,” testify to centuries of art and culture.

DAY 2 – MILAN – LAKE COMO
Leave Milan late morning for your direct train to Lake Como (Overnight in Como) B

DAY 4 – LAKE COMO - LAKE GARDA
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before departing midafternoon for your train via Milan to Lake Garda. After making your way to your chosen hotel your evening is free to explore (Overnight Sirmione) B

DAY 5 – LAKE GARDA
A day of leisure visit to roam the small streets of Sirmione with lots of shops, cafes and restaurants or take a boat ride on Lake Garda (Overnight Sirmione) B

DAY 6 – LAKE GARDA - VENICE
Catch a Trenitalia train direct to Venice, check in to your hotel then you have free time in the afternoon to explore the capital of northern Italy’s Vento region. No visit to Venice would be complete without a gondola ride along the labyrinth of narrow canals. Enjoy your included evening ride and discover the secrets of the city as you pass beneath bridges and experience palazzos and popular sites. (Overnight in Venice) B

DAY 7 - VENICE
Today is a morning walking tour of Doge’s Palace, built in Venetian Gothic style, and one of the main landmarks of the city then onto the Golden Basilica one of the most majestic Cathedrals of the world. (Overnight in Venice) B

DAY 8 – VENICE overnight to LONDON
After breakfast in your hotel step aboard one of the best trains in Europe the Venice Simplon Orient Express and be whisked away to a world of timeless indulgence. After departing from Venice Santa Lucia enjoy a three-course lunch. The afternoon is free to enjoy the view before getting ready for a four-course dinner prepared by the skilled French chefs. DAY 9 – PARIS - LONDON
Breakfast served in your cabin at a time that suits you. The train pulls in Paris Gare du Nord for 40 minutes allowing you to stretch your legs. Then a delicious brunch is served before the train heads to the French Coast for the Channel crossing. You then join the Belmond British Pullman for your journey to London Victoria. A traditional afternoon tea is served with a glass of sparkling wine. Arrive London Victoria 17.45 your tour now concludes. B BR AT

Metropole and Suisse Hotel Como

The Metropole & Suisse Como is a traditional property owned by the Cassani family. Guest rooms are air-conditioned and decorated with wood furnishings and classical artwork. Locanda Vivaldi

Hotel Locanda Vivaldi was inaugurated at the end of 1999, after painstaking and long restructuring works on the building adjacent to the Church of Pietà.

In 1703 Antonio Vivaldi was ordained a priest and started to work as a violin teacher in the Pietà conservatory, where he remained until 1740.
