Throughout this 10-day train holiday to three of China’s greatest cities, you’ll have the opportunity to experience both its ancient imperial and revolutionary past and futuristic, modern culture. There is certainly no shortage of interesting things to do. First, you’ll visit Shanghai and tour Yu Garden, French Concession, Shanghai Museum, and The Bund. You’ll also get to explore the picturesque water village of Zhujiajiao, historic Xintiandi, and Tianzifang’s bustling alleyways. In Beijing, discover Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, The Temple of Heaven, and Beijing Hutong. The main highlight of visiting Beijing will surely be your tour of the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. When you arrive in Hong Kong, get to know the city with a tour of Hong Kong Island and Kowloon.

DAY 1 – SHANGHAI
Upon arrival in Shanghai, you’ll quickly experience the energy and excitement that attracts so many visitors to this city each year. There is certainly no shortage of interesting things to do. Get settled in at your hotel and if you feel up to it, step out to begin exploring Shanghai on your own. Maybe visit Nanjing Road, the world’s longest shopping district. (Overnight in Shanghai)

DAY 2 – SHANGHAI
Enjoy breakfast before this morning’s tour. First, visit Yu Garden, a traditional Chinese garden featuring koi-filled ponds and wooden pavilions. It is a serene escape from the city located inside a busy shopping bazaar. Next, explore the stylish and charming French Concession followed by lunch. At the Shanghai Museum (closed Mondays), admire the legacy left behind by the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Finish your tour with a walk along Shanghai’s waterfront, The Bund, and gaze at some of China’s most impressive architectural landmarks. (Overnight in Shanghai) B, L

DAY 3 – SHANGHAI
Discover the picturesque water village of Zhujiajiao on your morning tour and stroll the maze of paths and bridges, see impressive temples, and enjoy the atmosphere. Then, have lunch at a local restaurant before visiting historic Xintiandi, famous for its Shikumen-style houses. Wrap up your tour in Tianzifang exploring its bustling alleyways lined with shops, bars and food stands. The evening is free. (Overnight in Shanghai) B, L

DAY 4 – SHANGHAI TO BEIJING
Travel by high-speed train to Beijing, a city packed with Imperial history, stunning ancient temples, gourmet restaurants, and time-honoured tea rituals. It’s an eclectic mix of past and present, with something to offer any visitor. Check in at your hotel then spend the rest of the day at your leisure. (Overnight in Beijing) B

DAY 5 – BEIJING
This morning, visit Tiananmen Square, one of the world’s largest public squares. Get a glimpse of Soviet-era-style building, the gates of the Forbidden City, and wonderful views of Beijing. Then tour the Forbidden City (closed Mondays) to explore its palaces and courtyards that once housed emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before checking out The Temple of Heaven and Beijing Hutong. (Overnight in Beijing) B, L

DAY 6 – BEIJING
Today’s tour takes you to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China. This visit will give you the opportunity to experience steeper sections of the wall, watch towers, and its inner and outer barriers. Have lunch at a local restaurant then visit the Summer Palace to see its landscaped gardens, temples and pavilions. Highlights will certainly be the Hall of Benevolence and Longevity, the Garden of Virtue and Harmony, the water calligraphers and the Seventeen-Arch Bridge. Following your tour, the rest of the day is free. (Overnight in Beijing) B, L

DAY 7 – BEIJING TO HONG KONG
Travel by train from Beijing to Hong Kong. The trip takes approximately nine hours, so when you arrive in Hong Kong, check into your hotel and get settled. There are few skylines in the world that rival Hong Kong’s. It’s an endlessly fascinating city. (Overnight in Hong Kong) B

DAY 8 – HONG KONG
Get to know Hong Kong Island on your half-day tour. Learn about its history, see famous landmarks and beautiful Repulse Bay, admire views of the city from Victoria Peak and peruse Stanley Market. Spend your free evening exploring on your own, perhaps by savouring some tea and dim sum. (Overnight in Hong Kong) B

DAY 9 – HONG KONG
Discover the treasures of a more authentic side of Hong Kong in Kowloon. Featuring a diverse host of artistic, cultural and historical attractions, Kowloon is a must-see. Later, why not go gallery-hopping on Hollywood Road or tour the city’s historic temples? In the evening, we recommend relaxing while watching the Symphony of Lights at Victoria Harbour? DAY 10 – YOUR JOURNEY ENDS IN HONG KONG
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and transfer to the airport for your flight. B
