Trip Overview

Travel along the tracks on one of Europe’s most scenic rail journeys, combining exciting cities with wonderful panoramas. Take the Brenner Pass rail line from the Bavarian capital of Munich through the verdant landscapes of southern Bavaria to Innsbruck, the winter sports capital of the Alps. Spend a night exploring before rolling through the snowy Alps, through Brenner, to the iconic city of Venice for a three-night stay.

DAY 1 - LONDON TO MUNICH
Take the train today from London to Brussels, then transfer trains in Brussels for the journey to Munich via Frankfurt. On arrival in Munich, head to your hotel and check in for an overnight stay. Munich is the capital of Bavaria with a long and illustrious history. Spend the rest of the day exploring the grand avenues, royal palaces and myriad museums before heading to a typical Bavarian beer house for an evening drink. (Overnight in Munich)

 DAY 2 - MUNICH TO INNSBRUCK
After breakfast at your hotel, take the train from Munich across Bavaria and the Austrian border to Innsbruck. Forgo the high-speed service and instead meander around the bases of the imposing Alpine mountains. The train passes through the historic market town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and through stunning mountain scenery to the self-proclaimed capital of the Alps, Innsbruck. Look out for Kufstein fortress as you cross the Austrian border. Once to Innsbruck, check in at your hotel for an overnight stay, and begin to explore. Innsbruck is city of stately beauty, ringed with snow-capped mountains. Wander around the old town, taking in the famous Goldenes Dach (Golden Roof), the Imperial Church with its striking memorial to Emperor Maximillian I or the Stadtturm for great views of the city. Alternatively, take a cable car up to Nordkette for skiing, hiking or a spot of lunch with panoramic alpine views. (Overnight in Innsbruck) B

 DAY 3 - INNSBRUCK TO VENICE
After breakfast, take the train from Innsbruck through the Alps via the Brenner Pass route. This scenic journey takes you through Alpine meadows and past snowy peaks before skirting around Lake Garda and arriving into Verona. Travel over 3,000 feet up to Brenner, twisting and turning through the mountains before rolling through Italy's rolling hills and into Verona. From Verona, switch trains for the short ride on to Venice. On arrival, check in at your hotel for an overnight stay. (Overnight in Venice) B

DAY 4 - VENICE
After breakfast this morning, set out to explore Venice. A visit to Venice is not complete without a ride on a Gondola, a mode of transport that has been in existence in Venice for over 1000 years! Soak up the vibrant atmosphere in St. Mark’s Square, whilst marvelling at the beautiful mosaics that adorn the Basilica and maybe visit the Doge's Palace, with its origins dating back to the 14th century (Overnight in Venice) B

 DAY 5 – VENICE
After breakfast join your 9am Absolute Venice walking tour including the Doges Palace and The Golden Basilica. (Overnight in Venice) B

 DAY 6 – DEPART VENICE
This morning is your chance to visit those places not yet explored and absorb the last of the Venetian culture. Make your way to the airport for your flight home to London after a wonderful three-night stay in this fascinating city. Prefer the train to flying? Why not travel home along the tracks with a night in Turin, instead. One of our Rail Consultants would be happy to make these arrangements for you. B

AC Hotel Innsbruck

The Hilton Innsbruck is a modern hotel with 176 contemporary bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. The hotel has a restaurant, bar and steam room, and the Casino Innsbruck is connected to the hotel. The hotel is close to the train station and a short walk from the old town area of Innsbruck.

Situated at the main train station. The Ai Mori d'Oriente Hotel is a historic hotel set in a palace which was once home to Turkish merchants, known as the 'Mori'.
