Aix-en-Provence

Characterized by leafy boulevards and charming squares lined with 17th and 18th century mansions, Aix en Provence was founded by the Romans as a spa town and is now an attractive, popular university city nestled in the heart of Provençal southern France. The Old Town area includes a maze of medieval streets leading to fountain-woven squares packed with museums, markets and cafés. A Post-Impressionist’s playground, Paul Cezanne was born in the city, and it is possible to take a walking trail between his childhood home, Jas de Bouffan and his former studio, Atelier Cezanne.
