Leiden
Intersected by canals and tree-lined quays, Leiden lies in the Dutch province of South Holland, and boasts what can only be described as a ‘quintessentially Dutch’ centre. Popular as the gateway to the myriad colours and impressive blooms of the world famous Keukenhof Gardens, there’s plenty do see and do here at all times of year. Visit the superb National Museum of Antiquities, admire the views from the top of the Molen de Valk Windmill Museum or simply soak up the ambience from the banks of the Old Rhine.
